Olive Barn Day Nursery opened at the beginning of 2023, providing quality care and education to children aged 6 months to 5 years old. The nursery is situated in a beautiful barn in the village of Steeple Bumpstead, Essex.
We strive to ensure children receive the best possible start to their education within a safe, secure, and stimulating environment, somewhere children feel happy and valued, and have the opportunity to develop their confidence and independence.
The nursery is open from 8am – 6pm Monday -Friday, 51 weeks of the year, offering all year round care and education.

Our Learning Environment
All our indoor classrooms have been designed with a cosy and calming feel, with each class equipped with large, comfortable furnishings and accessible resources. Every room has its own wooden home corner, with ‘real life’ resources to enhance children’s imaginative development, in addition to creative stations filled with lots of different mark making resources.
The classrooms provide a homely, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere so that children feel happy and relaxed.
Outdoors and Nature
Our large garden provides exciting opportunities, with ride on toys, undercover sandpit, climbing equipment, a vegetable patch and mud kitchen.
Children have plenty of time to explore our fantastic outdoor space, and this is encouraged throughout every day. We enjoy, forest school activities, outdoor adventures searching for wildlife, nature, and streams.
Sessions
All Day Session – 8.00am – 6.00pm
Extended School Day Session -8.00am – 3.30pm
A minimum of 2 sessions per week is required to secure a place.

Working in partnership
We believe working in partnership with parents is essential in supporting children’s development and building positive relationships.
Sharing home learning ideas, creates opportunities for children to learn and develop at home as well as at nursery.
We use our online app to communicate and share your child’s progress throughout their day. We also share helpful links, local community information and nursery events.
